Skiing trip to Are, Sweden January 2003

I was very lucky to be given a place on a group skiing trip to Rodkullen in Are, Sweden in January 2003.  The trip was very professionally organised by a UK charity called the 'Back-up Trust' Together with 6 other tetraplegics, carers and buddies we headed for the snowy slopes of this part of Scandinavia to be taught how to ski in specially made ski-karts.  It was as cold a -23 degrees some days but the sheer exhilaration and excitement of hurtling down mountains independently more than made up for it!  This was easily one of the best weeks I have ever had since my accident and I can't wait to do it again!

Below are a pictures from my Skiing holiday, just click on any thumbnail to enlarge it and use your browser's 'BACK' button to return to this page.  At the foot of the page you will find some useful other links.  I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd be able to participate in winter sports again,  then I met the team from Back-Up that made it all possible for me....................  Thank You
