Skiing trip to
Are, Sweden January 2004 |
|
I was very lucky to asked by the 'Back-up Trust' to be a joint group leader on one of their Skiing weeks and go back to Rodkullen in Are, Sweden in January 2004. Again the trip was very professionally organised and together with 6 other tetraplegics, 7 carers and 5 ski buddies we headed for the snowy slopes of this part of Scandinavia to be taught how to ski in specially made ski-karts. We managed to top 2003's coldest day by several degrees this year it got as cold as -32 one night outside the hotel, the following day there was a windchill of -40 at the top of the ski-lift! You hardly seem to notice the cold as the sheer exhilaration and excitement of hurtling down mountains independently more than makes up for it! Below are a few pictures from my 2004 Skiing trip, just click on any thumbnail to enlarge it and use your browser's 'BACK' button to return to this page. At the foot of the page you will find some useful other links. I would like to thank everyone at Back-Up that made it possible for me ........ Thank You |
